Disc Bowls is a recreational and social activity commonly featured at rallies and community gatherings, offering participants a fun, accessible way to enjoy friendly competition. Despite the name's similarity to traditional lawn bowls, Disc Bowls typically uses flat, disc-shaped objects instead of spherical bowls. The aim of the game is for players or teams to toss or slide their discs across a designated playing area, attempting to land them as close as possible to a target, often called the "jack" or "kitty".
This game is designed to encourage participation from everyone, regardless of experience.
At the rally, Disc Bowls includes categories for Mixed & Visitors, Men’s, and Women’s competitions, followed by finals, making it an inclusive activity that welcomes both newcomers and seasoned players. Entry is simple: participants can form their own teams or be allocated to one by the Disc Bowls organisers, ensuring that everyone who wishes to play is able to join in the fun.
Disc Bowls provides a relaxed setting to meet new friends, embrace a bit of healthy competition, and enjoy the outdoors as part of the overall rally experience. With its easy-to-learn rules and emphasis on camaraderie, it’s a highlight of the event’s recreational program.
